Celebrating 25 Years of Creative Community:
OASIS Fine Art & Craft Marks a Silver Anniversary
Twenty five years ago JMU art professor Crystal Theodore had a dream of a gallery in downtown Harrisonburg. On October 3, 2000 that dream became a reality when OASIS Fine Art & Craft officially opened it's doors. OASIS (Our Art Space in Shenandoah) has grown into a thriving 501(c)(3) non-profit collective of approximately three dozen talented local artists working across diverse mediums.
This summer, OASIS embarked on an ambitious community art project that perfectly embodied their collaborative spirit. The mosaic project represents more than just artistic creation—it symbolizes the connections OASIS has fostered throughout its 25-year journey.
The grand 25th anniversary celebration will take place during the popular First Fridays event on Friday, October 3rd, when OASIS will display as many of the community-created mosaic panels as possible. We welcome our local community, supporters and former members to join in the festivities with us.
